Blackbird fund NZ car dealers buying vehicles at Japan's massive second-hand auctions. Each loan touches invoices, seller payments, shipments, security verification and repayment when the car finally sells. We built the system that runs the whole thing, connected, mobile-first and integrated.
THE CHALLENGE
Every vehicle Blackbird fund touches multiple moving parts, auction invoices in Japan, seller payments in yen, shipment tracking across the Pacific, security verification on arrival, and repayment when the car finally sells in New Zealand. The dealers funding the cars live on the road, not at a desk. Coordinating that without a connected system would be a phone-call business.
THE SOLUTION
We built a web application for Blackbird's team to manage the lending lifecycle end-to-end, alongside native iOS and Android apps for dealers on the ground. Behind it sits integration with multiple third-party APIs, for verification, asset tracking, payment and shipment status, surfaced through one experience instead of five different portals.
THE OUTCOME
Today Blackbird's team and their dealers work in one connected system. Loans are funded, shipments are tracked, vehicles are verified, payments flow, all coordinated through software that was designed around how this very specific corner of vehicle finance works. The dealers on the ground get a seamless experience. Blackbird's team gets one view of every loan in flight.
