Apple patches zero-day vulnerability in iPhones, iPads and MacOS
On 20th August Apple has released important updates for iPhones, iPads and Macs (desktops and laptops) to fix a flaw that is already being exploited in targeted attacks.
More info on the releases can be found here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/100100
The updates affect the following devices:
- iPhones and iPads running the latest iOS (18) should be running on 18.6.2 or later
- Older iPhones and iPads running iOS 17 should be running on 17.7.10 or later
- Macs on macOS Sequoia 15 should be running on 15.6.1 or later
- Macs on macOS Sonoma 14 should be running on 14.7.8 or later
- Macs on macOS Ventura 13 should be running on 13.7.8 or later
How to check and update
For iPhones and iPads, go into Settings > General > Software update. You may find the device already showing a pending update to 18.6.2, so tap Update Now. For Macs, go to the Apple logo on top left of screen and go into System Settings > General > Software Update. It will check for any outstanding updates then prompt to download if there is one.
The update process is relatively straight forward, but if you do need any assistance we’re always here to help through the usual channels!
